nicotine-it-works
Big if true

On the note. If the claim is that nicotine itself (separate from tobacco smoke) delivers real, replicable cognitive gains, it's worth treating with the same skeptical-but-testable posture as the DIY intervention in The mosquito bucket of doom works — LessWrong: cheap, self-administrable claims are exactly the ones you can and should check on yourself before believing the write-up. The strongest human evidence for nicotine alone does show modest attention and working-memory effects in controlled studies, but it's also a fast-onset, dependence-forming stimulant with real cardiovascular load, so 'it works' and 'it's a good idea to take regularly' are two different claims worth keeping separate.
